Tenori-On is so ON

At Wednesday night's New Media Manitoba / Manitoba Music co-presentation, Bryce Kushnier aka vitaminsforyou demonstrated the coolest looking musical device I've ever seen. From Yamaha, the Tenori-on looks like an etch-a-sketch with lots of buttons and lights. It's front tablet lights up on the back, so this thing is meant for holding in your hands. Bryce started with some simple sequencer demos which made it look like a childs toy. Once he started diving into it's functions is when eyes, ears opened and jaws dropped. Add the graphical element and you have a visual sequencer. Bryce will be using this thing Thursday night as VFY plays the Pyramid - part of a performance at the Jazz Winnipeg Festival.
