faust with a blunderspublik score
So what did you do on your summer vacation? Ask blunderspublik, Curtis Walker, and hear him say that he developed a score for the 1926 film Faust by F.W. Murnau. And why not bring in a friend to help, crys cole who is busy enough arranging send + receive v.12 to add a subtle touch. And then perform it live at Cinematheque on Friday, Aug 27 in front of an audience.
First time I've seen the film which is quite good. Engaging story. Delightful performances. Remarkable for its time. The score was great. I think there is a temptation to add sound effects however that was not the case for the performance. Sounds to enhance the drama. Yes there was a laptop involved (a retiring laptop) but as Curtis said, it is not just press a button to play a recording. There is plenty of opportunity for something to go wrong. Great stuff. Good on Cinematheque for making this possible.
